Summary

The Utility Regulator today gives notice of licence modifications we propose to make to the electricity transmission system operator (TSO) licences, and the NIE Limited – Successor Transmission Licence. Changes to the transmission licences are required in order to comply with the Electricity (Priority Dispatch) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012.

The Utility Regulator today gives notice of licence modifications we propose to make to the electricity transmission system operator (TSO) licences, and the NIE Limited – Successor Transmission Licence. Changes to the transmission licences are required in order to comply with the Electricity (Priority Dispatch) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012.

The modifications are required to ensure that priority is given, in the dispatch of electricity, to certain types of generation (e.g. water energy plants).

In accordance with article 3 of the Electricity (Priority Dispatch) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012, the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (the Department) may request that the Authority make modifications to an existing transmission licence in order to comply with the Regulations. The Department has formally requested that the Utility Regulator make the appropriate modifications to the existing transmission licences. These notifications set out the relevant modifications for each licence.
