Final guidance on the application of the Utility Regulator’s competition powers published

The Utility Regulator is today publishing our final guidance on the application of our competition powers. This follows a consultation carried out in June 2016. The guidance relates to the application of the competition powers that we hold concurrently with the Competition and Markets Authority.

The guidance also seeks to clarify the relationship between sectoral regulation and competition law.  In addition, it aims to promote awareness of how competition law applies to the electricity, gas and water and sewerage industries in Northern Ireland and the importance of ensuring compliance with it

For further information on our approach to the approval of voluntary redress schemes please see the CMA’s guidance.
