Following the approval of SONI’s formal Fuel Switching Agreement, the Utility Regulator is advising stakeholders that the interim Fuel Switching arrangement, by way of a public letter dated 13 December 2011, has now been revoked.
We have worked with the Department for Economy, SONI and other relevant stakeholders in order to implement Fuel Switching Agreements. These Fuel Switching Agreements enhance the operational security of electricity supply by setting out the rights and obligations relating to all aspects of fuel switching that generators can avail of.
In February 2015 we issued a consultation paper on the licence modifications required to enable SONI to implement these agreements. A decision paper was issued in November 2015 with the licence modifications effective from January 2016. Following this, SONI submitted a formal Fuel Switching Agreement to us for approval.
As this formal agreement is now in place, the interim arrangements, by way of a public letter published on our website on 13 December 2011, will now be revoked.
