During 2010, the Utility Regulator completed a consultation on the treatment of the vacant sites within the NIE Land Bank. A number of responses were received and following the consultation, the Utility Regulator concluded that the sites were to be made available to the market for use.
At the beginning of 2011 we published an update on our website detailing the conclusions of the consultation and next steps. As a reminder, the sites to be made available for market use within the Land Bank are:
Old Belfast West Power Station
Kilroot Power Station adjoining lands
Coolkeeragh Power Station adjoining lands
Lisahally Tank 11 site
Camlough Lands
NIE as Land Bank custodians, were directed to appoint a suitable professional party to act as agent on NIE’s behalf. The successful party via competitive tender was a collaborative venture by Myles Danker and Savills (MDS). The agent is now in place and is completing a Strategic Asset Review of all sites contained in the consultation.
To provide focus on delivery of goals, the milestones below have been established.
1. August 2011 - Strategic Asset Review reports completed
2. 30th September 2011 - Marketing of sites commences
3. 30th September plus 3 months - Period of time allowed for receipt of proposals for the sites.
The Utility Regulator will provide a further update on progress of the program in October 2011.
