The Utility Regulator today publishes its latest quarterly transparency report (QTR) for Quarter 1 (January to March 2016).
This is the first Quarterly Transparency Report (QTR) where we have published data collected as part of the new Retail Energy Market Monitoring (REMM) framework. Some of the changes are attributable to how the consumption data for electricity is reported to align with the EU consumption categorisation. As a result the trend data presented for some of the indicators represents the data received from Q3 2015 since the new REMM reporting framework has been in place. Going forward, with subsequent data submissions we will build on the trend data to allow us to further analyse key market developments and the associated trends.
We publish transparency reports on a quarterly basis. The reports provide a range of information about the retail energy markets in Northern Ireland. The data included in these reports comes mainly from the network companies and Eurostat. Some tables/charts also contain specific inputs from the suppliers.
We use this information to understand more about the progress and impact of supply competition; build knowledge for regulatory decisions; comply with EU Third Package mandatory requirements on market monitoring; allow other interested stakeholders to understand more readily the activity within our energy markets; and to help promote the interests of consumers.
