On 27 February 2006 The Office for the Regulation of Electricity and Gas (OFREG) published a consultation paper outlining it’s plans to approve a £10m investment of the BETTA rebate by Moyle Interconnector Limited in the Irish Renewable and Sustainable Energy Fund.The paper also sought opinions on how the remainder of the rebate should be used and provided a number of proposals for comment. OFREG (the Office for the Regulation of Electricity and Gas) supports the Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation (NIAER) the regulator of the Electrcity and Gas industries in Northern Ireland. NIAER’s powers are derived from the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992, the Gas (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 both as amended by the Energy (Northern Ireland) Order 2003.
