Review of gas transmission exit capacity regime - call for evidence

The Utility Regulator today publishes a call for evidence to support a review of the gas transmission exit capacity regime in Northern Ireland. We committed to a review as part of the decision on licence modifications to introduce short term entry capacity products at Interconnection Points. This call for evidence follows a workshop held in the offices of the Utility Regulator on 2 March 2016, the slide pack for which is also available on our website.

This call for evidence considers a number of potential reforms including, the introduction of short term capacity products, removing the responsibility for booking exit capacity from distribution system operators and amending the ratchet mechanism. The deadline for responses to this call for evidence is on Friday 27 May.

The Utility Regulator will complete the review in June 2016. This is necessary so that a single system operator for Northern Ireland with a single Network Code and single IT System can be established on 1 October 2017.

This call for evidence has been prepared for the Utility Regulator by TPA Solutions
