Utility Regulator welcomes divestment of SONI to Eirgrid plc
The Utility Regulator today welcomed the announcement marking the completion of the divestment of the Transmission System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI) by Northern Ireland Electricity plc, to Eirgrid plc.
Commenting on the announcement, Iain Osborne, Chief Executive of the Utility Regulator said:
“The completion of the sale of SONI to Eirgrid will continue to ensure the safe, secure and economic operation of the electricity transmission network in Northern Ireland. It will also further enhance the independence of the transmission system operator in Northern Ireland in accordance with international best practice.”
