The regulatory framework for energy in Northern Ireland ensures that any movements in wholesale costs are reflected in consumer electricity and gas bills.
As the regulator of Power NI we continuously monitor the components that make up the company’s electricity tariff. This monitoring has led to us commencing a review of Power NI’s regulated electricity tariffs. It is expected that the review will conclude during February to allow any changes to electricity bills to take effect from 1 April.
Separately we have also been progressing a review of regulated gas tariffs – in respect of Airtricity Gas Supply (for the Greater Belfast area) and firmus energy (for the Ten Towns area). It is also expected that these reviews will conclude in February to allow any changes to gas bills to take effect from 1 April.
