Job description

Come and join us and help protect Northern Ireland’s energy and water consumers and support Government in delivering a low carbon future.

Protecting Northern Ireland’s energy and water consumers today and tomorrow is what the Utility Regulator does.

At a time of unprecedented energy prices and with the challenge of tackling climate change, our work has never been more high profile or important.

We are transforming our organisation to help us meet these challenges.  We are growing our team to make sure that we can meet the demands of today and tomorrow and provide more development opportunities for our talented staff. Our organisation is being re-shaped to better align with future energy and water strategic agendas. And we are developing a new strategic vision and direction.

There has never been a better time to join the Utility Regulator as we navigate our way through these challenges.  We have a range of manager opportunities available now, with a competitive remuneration package, that will suit you if you are looking to work in a fast-paced and diverse organisation, and where you can make a difference to the people of Northern Ireland.  We are currently recruiting for:

Permanent Regulatory Managers x 4

As a Regulation Manager within the Utility Regulator, you will be responsible for, and proactively manage a team of analysts. Your role will be to provide analysis and regulatory policy advice on electricity, gas, and water.

The Utility Regulator plays a central role in these markets to:

  • help the government meet its net-zero climate goals;
  • improve consumer and business protection;
  • provide a stable investment environment; and
  • ensure the electricity, gas, and water industries are efficient, and provide the best possible price to consumers.

These vacancies are across the organisation and a reserve list may be created from this competition to fill any additional suitable, similar manager roles.

If you would like to find out more about these jobs, you can download the information below. You can also contact HR at recruitment@uregni.gov.uk  if you would like to talk to someone about the work we do and what it’s like working here.

Northern Ireland continues to have an under-representation of women across our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) industries. The Utility Regulator is an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer. As people with a disability, people from ethnic minority communities and women are currently underrepresented in the Utility Regulator, we would particularly welcome applications from these groups.
