Switching energy suppliers
What happens after I switch?

Your new supplier will tell your old supplier that you have switched.

You will get a final bill from your old supplier within 6 weeks of the switch, which you must pay.

If you had money left in your account or prepayment meter when you switched, your supplier should refund this within 6 weeks.

Your new supplier will give you a copy of the Terms and Conditions of your contract which you should read carefully before signing.

The supplier should give you a copy of your contract after you have signed it.
Can I change my mind?

You have up to 10 working days to change your mind and cancel the switch after signing your contract, this is known as the ‘cooling off period’.

The switch should be completed within 15 working days after the end of the cooling off period.
Will I be charged for switching suppliers?

There is no charge for switching supplier but some contracts have a cancellation charge.

This will be listed in your supplier’s terms and conditions which you can find in your contract.

If you have lost your contract, you can ask your supplier for a copy.

Your supplier will also have a full set of Terms and Conditions on their website.
