Latest Utility Regulator newsletter published

We have published our latest newsletter which provides an update on our work during January.

It’s been a busy month, and we have hit the ground running this year, as we continue our work to protect the interests of consumers of electricity, gas and water across Northern Ireland.

This edition of the newsletter looks at the recently published draft consultation on our 2025/2026 Forward Work Programme, which forms the business plan for the second year of our Corporate Strategy 2024-2029.

The January issue also looks at our decision paper and approval of SONI’s Transmission Development Plan for Northern Ireland (TDPNI) 2023-2032.

Over the past year, we’ve met with elected representatives, contributed to roundtables, made site visits and both attended and hosted industry events.

As we look ahead to 2025, we plan to continue engaging with our stakeholders.

We are delighted that the Utility Regulator has been asked to assist Saint Helena’s Utilities Regulatory Authority with the review and development of their regulation programme.

The January edition of the newsletter explores our Electricity Networks Manager, Jody O'Boyle’s work on this initiative.

In this month’s newsletter, we’re also spotlighting the staff who oversee the Utility Regulator’s governance – our Head of Finance and Project Management, Paula McCann, and Project Management and Quality Assurance Manager, Debbie Quinn.

We would be delighted to hear any feedback you may have on our newsletter, and any issues you would like to see covered in future editions, via info@uregni.gov.uk
