Power NI licence modifications consultation
Published:
Summary
The publication of the Supply Price Control for 2026-2029 Final Determination is accompanied by a consultation on related proposed licence modifications which will give effect to the decisions within the Final Determination.
This consultation will close on 23 May 2025. We will consider all responses to the licence modification consultation and then make a final decision on the licence modifications.
The consultation paper is seeking views on our proposed licence modifications which will set the duration, scope, operating cost allowances and margin for Power NI for the next four years.
In the Final Determination we have determined that Power NI will receive £152m over the four years in operating costs and a profit margin which is equivalent to 2.2% of revenue.
Additionally, we intend to implement a cost share mechanism which will be applied to the operating costs. We have also introduced a new margin structure which is based on customer numbers and the power prices.
Subject to any appeal to our final decision, the licence modifications will come into effect at the end of August 2025 (56 days after the licence modification decision notice is expected to be published).
However, once the licence modifications are made, they will apply in respect of the whole of the first year of the new control period (i.e. on and from 1 April 2025).
