Approval of amended Common Capacity Calculation Methodology and Coordinated Net Transmission Capacity proposal

Decision of 23 July 2018 and published today, to Approve the Amended Ireland – United Kingdom Transmission System Operators’ Proposal for the Common Capacity Calculation Methodology

On 23 May 2018, the UR received an amended proposal from the Ireland – United Kingdom (IU) Transmission System Operators (TSOs) on the Common Capacity Calculation Methodology (CCM) for the day-ahead and intraday market timeframe in accordance with Article 20 of the guideline on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management.

The CCM proposes a common methodology within the Ireland – United Kingdom region for the calculation of cross-zonal capacity allocation and congestion management in the day-ahead and intraday markets. A key aim is to maximise cross-zonal capacity allocation whilst respecting operational security limits

This letter sets out our decision to approve the IU TSOs’ proposal and outlines the necessary next steps.

 

Decision of 23 July 2018 and published today, to Approve the Ireland – United Kingdom Transmission System Operators’ Proposal for the Application of the Coordinated Net Transmission Capacity (CNTC) Approach to Cross-Zonal Capacity Calculations

On 23 May 2018, the UR received a proposal from the Ireland – United Kingdom (IU) Transmission System Operators (TSOs) for the application of the Coordinated Net Transmission Capacity (CNTC) approach to cross-zonal capacity calculations for the IU region in accordance with Article 20(7) of the guideline on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management.

The CNTC approach is the capacity calculation method based on the principle of assessing and defining ex ante a maximum energy exchange between adjacent bidding zones.

This letter sets out our decision to approve the IU TSOs’ proposal and outlines the necessary next steps.
