The Utility Regulator today publishes a follow-up paper on Northern Ireland (NI) electricity price transparency.
This paper continues our work to increase transparency and assist policy makers. It follows on from our March 2013 information paper on NI electricity prices, data and comparisons, which for the first time presented non-domestic electricity prices in NI and compared these with other countries. We received nine responses to the March information paper which we have taken into consideration when drafting this follow-up paper. The responses are available here:
The follow-up paper published today discusses the main issues arising from the original March paper, key consultation points and findings, and comments on the way forward.
We intend that the follow-up paper should contribute constructively to:
- a better understanding of electricity price issues;
- the context for energy policy development going forward including the review of the Strategic Energy Framework commencing in 2014; and
- the review of electricity price issues being taken forward by the ETI Committee.
