An important milestone was reached today with the publication of the Utility Regulator’s Corporate Strategy 2009-14 .
The publication marks the end of an extensive consultation on the development of the strategy. During the development phase – lasting the best part of one year - there were two major consultations and a range of meetings with stakeholders. Responses received during the consultation were taken account of in the compilation of the final document.
The high level purpose of the strategy can be pared down into seven key themes:
1. Protecting consumers by ensuring utility monopolies act efficiently
2. Environmental sustainability and security of supply
3. Protecting vulnerable consumers
4. Boosting competition in wholesale and retail sectors
5. Harmonising energy markets and use of infrastructure
6. Evolving our Regulator Framework
7. Our own Organisational development.
The publication can be viewed on this website or alternatively a paper copy can be obtained from Kevin Shiels, the Utility Regulator, Queens House, 14 Queen Street, Belfast, BT1 6ER. Tel: 028 9031 6637.
Copies of the document will be made available in large print, Braille, audio cassette and a variety of relevant minority languages if required.
