Utility Regulator and CER Publish Common Arrangements for Gas Retail Alignment IT Assessment Report

Common Arrangements for Gas (CAG): Retail Alignment IT Assessment Report

The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation (NIAUR) will today (15th October 2009) publish the Common Arrangements for Gas (CAG) Retail Alignment IT Assessment Report . As part of the CAG Retail work stream this report was commissioned jointly by the CER and NIAUR.  The report provides a high level review of the IT systems in NI and ROI in order to understand and assess how they support the retail processes integral to the market. This review assessed the suitability of adapting one or both systems to serve the combined markets and to determine the important aspects of the processes and systems to be retained in the CAG.

Coming out of this report it is clear that harmonisation of retail processes and the retail aspects of the codes should be the first stage for CAG Retail in order to minimise any subsequent IT spend on an All Island basis. However, due to the fact that there are other CAG priorities and consequent resource constraints, the work on harmonisation of retail business processes and codes will not be progressed until later in the CAG program.

The report is also published on the All Island Project website which is the official website for the work on the Common Arrangements for Gas: www.allislandproject.org
