Following today’s announcement that Arcapita, owners of the Viridian Group, plan to sell the NIE network business in Northern Ireland to the Electricity Supply Board, a spokesperson for the Utility Regulator said:
“The Utility Regulator has been kept informed of developments regarding the sale of NIE and has held discussions with the parties involved to ensure the interests of Northern Ireland consumers are protected.
“Now a sale has been agreed, we expect to carry out a public consultation on the changed circumstances and the implications these will have. We will continue to liaise with the parties involved and remain focused on protecting the interests of Northern Ireland consumers.”
