The Utility Regulator today welcomed the decrease in water and sewerage charges by an average of 4% for businesses announced by NI Water. Tanya Hedley, director of Networks (gas and water) said,
“Today’s announcement by NI Water is good news for businesses and I am delighted to see these reductions in charges. This is the second consecutive annual reduction of charges announced as part of our review of NI Water’s Scheme of Charges. Our job as the independent economic regulator of NI Water is to ensure that water and sewerage customers receive value for money services.
It is important that the price paid for water and sewerage services reflects the actual cost of delivering these services to businesses and charges must be fair for all customers.
We monitor and approve NI Water’s regulated water and sewerage charges by carrying out a review of the company’s annual Scheme of Charges submission. The annual charges announced by NI Water reflect the price limits we set in the price control for 2013-2015 (PC13). The reduction in charges will take effect from 1 April 2014”.
