Today the Utility Regulator publishes a position paper on the ‘Third Party Intermediaries in the non-domestic retail energy market'. This follows our call for evidence paper published on 9 November 2017.
The position paper looks at the extent of Third Party Intermediaries (TPI) activity in NI's regulated non-domestic energy sectors and identifies the way forward that we intend to adopt in relation to the TPI sector at this time. We have also discussed the relevant issues with Trading Standards Service and will continue to liaise with them in this area going forward.
We will follow up on this work by considering enhanced monitoring of TPI activity through our Retail Energy Market Monitoring (REMM) framework and also consulting on the inclusion of TPI commission levels on supplier bills to consumers.
Any queries in relation to this position paper should be sent to colin.magee@uregni.gov.uk
