Job description

Protecting Northern Ireland’s energy and water consumers today and tomorrow is what we do.

This is a great time to join us as we look to support the move to net-zero, whilst providing a stable investment environment, develop energy markets and improve consumer protection.

And we are changing too. You’ll be joining an organisation that is growing and transforming to meet the challenges of the future and protecting consumers in a changing world.

Regulation Analysts – Price Controls

As a Regulation Analyst within the Utility Regulator, you will be responsible for providing analysis and advice on energy (electricity and gas) and water issues, as they relate to Northern Ireland consumers, and to the companies we regulate. In addition, you will play an active role in supporting the organisation as it supports government initiatives as part of the climate change transition.

This role is ideally suited for someone with a background in numerical data analysis, economic regulation, engineering, finance or economics.

You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of functions within a team-based environment, and actively contribute to the delivery of Utility Regulator aims and objectives.

We offer an attractive package including a competitive starting salary with stepped increases per annum, alongside a range of other benefits including hybrid working, Northern Ireland Civil Service pension arrangements and 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after two years) and an additional 12 public and privilege days.

The closing date for applying is: 2:00pm, Thursday 13 June 2024, with interviews expected to take place late June.

Northern Ireland continues to have an under-representation of women across the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) industries. The Utility Regulator is an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer. As people with a disability, people from ethnic minority communities and women are currently underrepresented in the Utility Regulator, we would particularly welcome applications from these groups.
